Our first Skype was a success!

I am happy to report that we skyped with our kindergarten friends in Wisconsin!  We learned that these students do not have off like we do next week!  We also learned that they swim in lakes to cool off in the summer (when they are e coli-free)!  These students do have ipads and smartboards, as we do.  They have a lot of the same specials as us but the teacher teaches them in the classroom!  We also found out that they had a mild winter without much snow also!  We look forward to our next chat!

Project Update

I am happy to report that my project is moving along...we have our kindergarten class in Wisconsin that we are "epals" with.  They have shared their school tour with us and also their online assignment of "our favorite season".    We are planning to create a building tour video for them and we are both compiling a care package of things that represent our respective towns and states.  We will be Skyping with them next week and we are currently planning our questions, after comparing and contrasting our schools.  The kids are looking forward to this project!

So far so good?

Well, last week I got a log-in for epals, (which I think is a really cool site), and responded to another kindergarten teacher's request.  Unfortunately I have not heard back.  Tonight after gaining access to our classmates' blogs, I created my own epals request for another kindergarten class to work with.  I am seeking an English-speaking class who may be interested sharing weather in our respective communities, (depending on how far away they may be).  I was also thinking that we could upload pictures, shared writing and graphs, in addition to maybe skyping or doing facetime.  I hope this works out!
